I had read a few things about this Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. I didn't want to read any more about cases like this and look at pictures. My heart was set on the hope that Michael will be out of here in a couple of days. My own prayer has been for the Lord to visibly begin recovery any time now. There are some good signs. However, the doctors are not giving me any glimpse of hope that he's actually beginning to get out of it.
This morning I followed a link sent by a great friend and started to read about one particular case. I was in tears while reading about it. And started to pray for Michael again. Could it be that God will allow him to get worse? It seems unthinkable that though the original medicine that caused all these is gone from his body, somehow the effect is still going through a potentially damaging course. And there is no medicine for this! My heart sank as I read the article.
O, but I must rely not on statistics but on God's compassion and mercy. Not only is He compassionate and merciful, He is the definition of mercy! (Eph. 2:4 "But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus...") I will implore Him to spare Michael the full extent of the syndrome's effects.
This is noon, Friday, and he's sleeping. His mouth is swollen inside and his lips are raw and completely chapped. Otherwise, he seems as stable as yesterday. I was encouraging him to stand and walk around to avoid bedsores (or at least sit up) but he said his soles are painful. And he gets dizzy when he stands.
Thank you for continuing to pray for him.

Dear family,
What an incredible ordeal. We are praying for you and your family, Michael! May the LORD give you strength and peace during this time of trial. He is going to bring you through this by His sovereign goodness. May the LORD touch your body and grant you healing.

Just a thought: After doing research on this condition, could this be the same thing that Job suffered from (boils from head to toe, painful sores and lesions)?
Hi Liz and Bob,
After reading your blogs and seeing Michael's pictures, the more we trust and believe that God is truly in control. . . Jesus never sleeps and He watches over Michael and your family every single moment. . . May God continue to heal Michael in His time. Please give our love and regards to Michael and may he be encouraged and blessed by God's words: Psalm 121.
God's blessings and mercy to all!

Just got word about this through Nick. We are and will continue to pray for Michael, that God will heal his body and comfort him through the Savior.
May the Father of mercies and God of all comfort be with your family.
